Thirty questions we are actually asked, answered without marketing. Where the answer is no, it says no.
Happy Tracker is time tracking and productivity software for service businesses. Every hour your team works is attached to a project, a client and a task, so you can see where the time went, what is billable and what is still unbilled. It also covers timesheets, attendance, leave, screenshots, activity tracking and invoicing.
Agencies, IT companies, consultancies and other service businesses between about five and five hundred people, where the hours people work are the thing being sold. It is priced in rupees and the leave and attendance rules follow Indian practice.
The web app runs in any modern browser. There are native desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Ubuntu or Debian Linux. Screenshots and application activity are captured only by the desktop app; the browser cannot do it.
No. There is no iPhone or Android app today. The web app works in a phone browser for clocking in and out and checking your own timesheet, but there is nothing to install from an app store.
Yes, unless the company turns it off. An administrator can require the desktop app, and can still allow specific people to use the browser. The timesheet records which of the two was used for every session.
Every plan is priced per user per year, in rupees, with no automatic renewal.
Free for up to 5 users. Starter is 499 rupees per user per year for up to 30 users, Pro is 999 for up to 100 users, and Business is 1,499 for up to 500 users. All plans are billed yearly. A higher plan buys capacity — more users, more projects, more frequent screenshots and longer retention — not a different set of features.
Yes. Up to five users and three projects, no card required, and it does not expire. It includes time tracking, timesheets, approvals, attendance, leave and invoicing, plus up to one screenshot every ten minutes, kept for three days.
Yes. Any payment can be refunded in full within seven days, for any reason. Write to us and we will process it.
No. Nothing renews by itself and no card is charged without you choosing to pay again. When a plan is close to expiry we tell you, and you decide.
You can buy additional seats on your current plan, or move up to the next plan. Both are prorated, so you only pay for the time left on the current term.
The questions employees ask, answered the same way we answer them to a buyer.
Only while somebody is clocked in on work. Nothing is captured when they are clocked out or on a break, and clocking out stops it immediately.
No. Activity tracking records how much keyboard and mouse activity there was and which application was in use. It never records the content of what is typed, and there is no keylogger in the product.
No. Happy Tracker does not record anyone's physical location. There is no GPS, no map and no geofencing in the product.
Yes, all of it. Every person can open their own screenshots, activity and timesheet in their own account. They can also ask for a screenshot to be deleted.
The company administrator, not us and not the employee. They set how often screenshots are taken, the image quality, whether screenshots are blurred, and how long they are kept. Screenshots can also be switched off entirely.
It depends on the plan. Screenshots are kept for 3 days on Free, 7 on Starter and 15 on Pro and Business. Activity records are kept for 7, 10, 15 and 30 days respectively. Older records are deleted automatically.
Yes, on Starter and above. When blur is on, the image is blurred on the employee's own machine before it is uploaded, so an unblurred copy never leaves their computer.
Time and timesheet data sits in our managed database; screenshots are held in Amazon S3. Everything moves over an encrypted HTTPS connection, each company's data is separated by workspace, and screenshots and activity are deleted automatically once the retention period on your plan is up.
About twenty minutes for a small team. Create the workspace, add your projects, invite people by email and have them install the desktop app. There is nothing to configure on a server.
Yes. Each session records whether it started on the web or in the desktop app, and how it ended: the person clocked out, they went idle, the daily hours limit closed it, the app stopped sending data, or an administrator closed it.
The system closes the session at the hours limit the company sets, and marks it as closed automatically rather than pretending the person worked all night. An administrator can then correct the entry.
The desktop app keeps tracking. Time and screenshots are queued on the machine and uploaded when the connection returns.
Yes, on every plan. An approver locks a member's week, after which entries for that week cannot be edited, and nobody can approve their own timesheet.
Yes. Owners, administrators and managers can add, edit or delete an entry for any member, and every change is written to the audit log with who made it.
Yes. Reports export to CSV, and invoices download as PDF. Your data is yours.
Asked often enough that leaving it out would be the dishonest choice.
No. It shows where the hours went, what is billable and what is still unbilled, and it turns billable hours into an invoice. It does not calculate project cost or margin. If you need that today, export the hours and work it out alongside your own cost figures.
No. It produces the attendance, leave and hours that payroll needs, and exports them, but the salary calculation happens in your payroll software or with your accountant.
Not yet. There are no third-party integrations today, and no public API for customers. Data comes out through CSV and PDF export. We would rather say this plainly than list integrations that do not exist.
No. It is a hosted service only — there is no on-premise or self-hosted build. If your policy requires the data to stay on your own infrastructure, Happy Tracker is not the right fit and we would rather tell you now.
Email support@happycoders.com and we will answer it — and if other people are asking the same thing, it goes on this page.
